Ford Pro and Xcel Energy Join Forces to Facilitate Deployment of 30,000 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations for Corporate Fleets by 2030

Electrifying commercial vehicle fleets traversing extensive distances on North American roads holds immense potential for the planet's well-being. Despite the numerous advantages, a key hurdle hindering businesses from transitioning to electric fleets has been the need for more charging infrastructure. Notably, Ford Pro has collaborated with Xcel Energy to significantly amplify the availability of charging stations, aiming to alleviate this obstacle. Moreover, businesses in specific states stand to gain from reduced fees linked to upgrading their fleets.

Xcel Energy's Electric Vehicle Supply Infrastructure initiative explicitly outlines the ambitious goal of establishing 30,000 new chargers by 2030, directly addressing concerns about charging station accessibility. While many fleet operators initially plan for in-house charging, the substantial installation costs often need to be addressed. Consequently, the new initiative addresses this by offering reimbursement for charger installation expenses and ongoing support post-installation, currently applicable in Colorado, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. There are plans to extend this program to additional states, including Texas, South Dakota, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Michigan. As part of the collaboration, Ford Pro will also provide access to Ford Pro Telematics and Ford Pro Intelligence, enhancing fleet management capabilities.
