Specs at a Glance
Renowned for its towing and hauling strengths, the 2026 Ford Super Duty remains one of the top heavy-duty pickups. Drivers praise its power, up-to-date technology, and comfortable interior. Many shoppers decide between the XL and Platinum trims - here's a comparison.
Performance
Standard on the XL is a 6.8-liter V8 gas engine putting out 400 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque; an available 7.3-liter V8 raises those figures to 430 horsepower and 485 lb-ft of torque. The Power Stroke diesel is the towing workhorse: the standard diesel offers 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque, while the high-output variant delivers 500 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.
Although the Platinum offers similar engines, it does not include the 6.8-liter gas unit. Instead, it is standard with the 7.3-liter gas engine and features a standard 4X4 drivetrain.
Appearance
The XL's utilitarian styling and bold front end are tailored for work. It comes standard with steel wheels and practical towing aids like telescoping mirrors.
The Platinum is more upscale, with exclusive styling elements and 20-inch alloy wheels. The lighting is upgraded to LED projector headlamps and LED taillights, compared with halogen headlamps on the XL.
Features
The XL includes SYNC 4 with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, vinyl upholstery, and trailer sway damping.
The Platinum raises the bar with climate-controlled front seats featuring Active Motion massage, a head-up display, a 12.0-inch navigation touchscreen, a B&O premium audio system, and high-quality leather upholstery.
