What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?

The Ford Explorer has remained a popular choice for three-row SUVs over the years, and with some updates for the 2025 model year, it's now even better. The Explorer's exterior and interior have been refreshed to keep it competitive. For 2025, the model features new front and rear styling. What Trims & Features Are Offered on the 2025 Explorer?

There are four trims to choose from for the 2025 Ford Explorer.

The base Active model has many features, including tri-zone climate control, heated front seats with multiple adjustments, keyless entry, keyless ignition, and second-row captain's chairs that allow seating for seven passengers. The Active trim includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Google-based voice commands and navigation, a digital gauge cluster, and a six-speaker sound system. It rides on 18-inch wheels and includes a power liftgate and LED exterior lighting. You can add an optional package for a heated steering wheel, remote engine start, a more adjustable front passenger seat, and synthetic leather seats.

The ST-Line trim gives the Explorer a sportier appearance with more interior upgrades. It includes a black grille, black lower body trim, and darker headlights & taillights. The ST-Line rides on 20-inch wheels and features black synthetic leather seats with red stitching. It also adds extra safety features and has a premium B&O sound system with ten speakers.

The ST trim has 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.

The Platinum trim includes a dual-pane sunroof, leather seats, a 14-speaker sound system, and adaptive headlights.

How Much Horsepower Does the 2025 Explorer Provide?

The standard engine in the Explorer is a 2.3L four-cylinder that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The ST trim has a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine that generates 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. This engine is also an option for the Platinum trim.

What Safety Features Does the 2025 Explorer Include?

Standard safety features on the Explorer include rear parking sensors, forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane centering, intersection collision mitigation, and evasive steering assist.
